The Guyoscope was established in 1897 at Guy's Hospital in London by Dr B Burnett-Ham, as a'medical Punch', a comic magazine for medical students, nurses, and doctors, inspired by some caricatures of the teaching staff by Stanley Cock.
The type of humour and general attitude is similar to that of the Wipers Times twenty years later. Very few copies appear to have survived. Original card stapled binding, in attractive condition, with some wear wear and marking (please see pictures). 9 inches by 5.5 inches. Browning to covers and all leaves (see pictures). Internally clean and free of inscriptions. After completing his studies he became a noted artist, contributing caricatures to Vanity Fair.His study of Lord Banbury is held by the National Portrait Gallery.
